Executive Summary
  • Tembisa Self Help Association of the Disabled (T-SHAD) is an innovative community based development programme with a cross disability representation initiated in 1990 by the late blind man Mr. Manas Malinga. Against all odds and not wanting to rely on charity, the association established a self-help factory.
  • T-SHAD owns 2,04 hectors of land and property at erf 484 Esangweni Section in Tembisa from which it runs advocacy and a number of income generating projects. This plot was acquired from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality and has been managed by T-shad since August 1991.
  • The organization has since registered as a Non-profit organization to assist in its endeavours to raise funds for the benefit of its members.
  • Strict financial measures are maintained on all funds under T-Shad’s management. All funds are kept in banking accounts with recognised financial institutions. Audited financial statements are available on request. IRS Accounting Services are responsible as T-SHAD Auditors.
